What you need to do is to shop the specific jackets, and compare them based on features, protectivity, and quality, not just what they're made out of.įor example, my mesh jacket is made of Schoeller dynatec, which is an incredibly abrasion and tear resistant material. You can't really make a blanket statement about something like 'is kevlar (or textile) better or worse than leather,' because there are some awesome leather jackets, but there are also extremely crappy ones just like there are both awesome and crappy textile jackets.
